MEADOWBROOK WARD NEWS BITS AND PIECES
JANUARY-FEBRUARY 2022
“Jesus said several times, ‘Come, follow me,’ His was a program of ‘do what I do,’ rather than ‘do what I say’…He walked and worked with those he was to serve. His was not a long-distance leadership. He was not afraid of close friendships… The leaven of true leadership cannot lift others unless we are with and serve those to be led” (Spencer W. Kimbal, “Jesus: The Perfect Leader.” Ensign, Aug. 1979, p5)

MESSAGE FROM THE POCATELLO NORTH STAKE SUNDAY SCHOOL PRESIDENCY:
Dear Sisters and Brothers,
As we begin this new year, and turn our focus to setting New Year's Resolutions, it is imperative for us to find goals we can set in strengthening our gospel understanding and increasing our testimonies.
President Dallin H. Oaks said: "We should [recognize] that just because something is good is not a sufficient reason for doing it. The number of good things we can do far exceeds the time available to accomplish them. Some things are better than good, and these are the things that should command priority attention in our lives."
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, we have been instructed and invited by our leaders to study the Come, Follow Me manual and associated resources each week within our homes. We have been promised that when we do so we will have Heaven open up to us, blessings more than we can fathom, and we will be able to take the covenant path back home to our Heavenly Parents, and be with those that we love forever.
We invite each one of you to set a goal for your families and homes to study Come, Follow Me, each week, and learn what blessings are in store for you. Prepare for your Sunday School classes and help invite the Spirit each week, as you participate and discuss what was learned in your home. As we do this, the Spirit will guide the discussions to direct us into knowing what we need to learn. Make it a priority to do so, and allow for creativity within your family to guide your learning in the way that is most effective.
Goals are most effective when they excite, challenge, and motivate us. As you create or improve your goals, be specific in what you want to achieve, create some way of measuring your progress, and give yourself a timeline to achieve it.
When creating goals, consider your priorities. Many goals can help us improve, but with the Lord's guidance we can select the best goals for our lives. We bear testimony that Jesus lives, that Russell M. Nelson is a living Prophet of God and that Come Follow Me is a divinely inspired tool for gaining knowledge of our Savior and strengthening us and our families. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
