BISHOPRIC MESSAGE

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

With every Christmas carol we sing, with every Christmas gift we wrap, with every Christmas greeting we share, our hearts seem a little warmer. Our hearts seem to be a little more open to our Savior. What a wonderful time of the year as we feel more inclined to serve others and to reach out to family and friends. President Thomas S. Monson said, “To catch the real meaning of the spirit of Christmas, we need only drop the last syllable and it becomes the Spirit of Christ.”

May this Christmas season remind us that the Prince of Peace, who stilled the tempest on the Sea of Galilee, has the power to calm the storms in our personal lives. May His peace fill our hearts and homes throughout the coming year as we strive to walk in His ways.

O come, let us adore Him, Christ the Lord!

RELIEF SOCIETY

The relief society had a humanitarian project activity in November. We put together hygiene kits for the Hope and Recovery Resource Center. We are excited to be able to have more activities next year!

We encourage everyone to watch the Christmas Devotional if you didn’t get the chance to watch it yet and re-listen to the words of our Prophet that he shared on Thursday. We can be a gift to and for others by sharing the gift of our Savior, Lord, Friend and Redeemer this season and always.  His gift is priceless and perfect! We hope all will stay focused on the real meaning of Christmas and check in on our neighbors, friends, and family!

STAKE SUNDAY SCHOOL

Dear Sisters and Brothers,

The Christmas season allows opportunities for family traditions to flourish. These traditions, some generations old and others just beginning, are the aggregate of attitudes, ideas, ideals of our family cultures. Many of the traditions are inherited from parents, grandparents and ancestors. These traditions bring comfort, joy, happiness and the remembrance of good things.

In this week's Come, Follow Me lesson for Individuals and Families, we are encouraged to establish a family life "founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ."

In addition to our family Christmas traditions, we should strengthen or establish celestial traditions in our homes as well. These traditions provide great power and protection for us and our families.

In council with your family, seek out the celestial tradition which your family needs most urgently. That tradition may be family prayer, regular church attendance, family gospel study (weekly Come, Follow Me discussion), family history, making time for the Lord in your family's life--each and every day, or any other traditions that follow the principles taught by the Savior.

By establishing celestial traditions, your family will foster special bonds and experiences that will help bind your family as a celestial and eternal family.

Merry Christmas.
